I have always been a people person, combined with an artistic flair as an amateur author, song writer, and musician; these are cathartic behaviours that have proved to be a benefit towards personal contentment. Indeed, it is one of those aspects of life that I often introduce within our sessions; often these can become positive steps for clients to help resolve some of those anxieties, insecurities, and dilemmas that many of us face. After all, as we know, life can be hard.
My initial career path began within retail, leading to a 28-year position as a business support manager and workplace union representative. This was my bread and butter, interspersed with hospitality and youth work balancing out the demands of day to day work with a service for others. Being able to give was truly amazing, and although not apparent at the time, stepping stones that have led indirectly to my role as a counsellor. Over the years I have learned and witnessed so much and it is through those encounters that I have found my strength as a counsellor.
Dealing with the fundamental challenges of life can be difficult; work, family, relationships, anxieties, depression and many other issues that can have a detrimental impact on your well-being. Recognising these obstacles and seeking therapy is the first step to help you escape from the mayhem, those chaotic and traumatic experiences that suddenly hit you, take you by surprise, and stop you in your tracks. Of course, some of those happenings can be wonderful, but many aren’t and those curve balls can knock you off your feet. The one to one experience that I can offer will enable you to share those curve balls, and my natural humanistic approach, so conducive to effective therapy, will furnish congruency, empathy, and an unconditional positive regard as we explore your emotions, anxieties, fears, concerns, uncertainties and challenges. Indeed, even find hope, that goal of salvation.
I will support you along the way to realise that harmony and contentment that you so deserve. The conversations and dialogue we share will become, over the course of our sessions, a narrative of your life.
I will guide you, but importantly, NOT fix you or your life; my purpose is to steer you to a place where you can feel at ‘one’ within yourself and your world, identifying the different realities of life, helping you make sense of your experiences, and recognising how the interactions with others impacts how we respond.
Working together I can help you gain greater insight into the difficulties you are facing, help you understand why you act or react to them the way you do, and see how you can start to make better, heathier choices moving forward.
